Both versions of this title will be available on the first Monday in August

A high-octane, globe-spanning thriller with storylines ripped from today's headlines, Strike Back is a one-hour drama series that focuses on two members of a top-secret anti-terrorist organization known as Section 20: Michael Stonebridge, a British sergeant in the ultra secret Section 20 anti-terrorist team, and Damien Scott, a Delta Forces operative who was disgraced and discharged on the eve of the U.S. invasion of Iraq. The 10-episode season follows Stonebridge (Philip Winchester) and Scott (Sullivan Stapleton) as they criss-cross the globe on the trail of a deadly international terrorist named Latif, who is planning a major attack involving a cache of WMD that could have global repercussions.

Within the season-long arc involving the search for Latif (code-named "Project Dawn"), five separate adventures will be presented, each played out over two episodes. Sexy, suspenseful and action-packed, the series is set in exotic locations and has an abundance of twists and turns, as the two protagonists venture into New Delhi, Cape Town, Darfur and beyond to thwart the bad intentions of terrorists intent on bringing anarchy and destruction to our planet.

Back in February we posted a story that had the headline, "Strike Back - Blu-ray, DVD for 'The Complete 1st Season' (by Cinemax's Count, Anyway)"; here we informed you that we had no release date, but HBO Video was preparing disc-based releases of the show's "second series"...by the U.K. count, but that for the U.S.A. it would be the first season shown here (as the group of six original episodes had been skipped on this side of the pond).

Today HBO Video and distributor Warner Home Video officially announced an August 7th release date for what is officially titled as "Strike Force - Cinemax Season 1." Special features on both 4-disc sets include Audio Commentaries, and the DVD version comes with anamorphic widescreen video and audio tracks in both English Dolby Surround 5.1 and Spanish Dolby Digital 2.0 as well, plus subtitles in both those languages along with French and Thai. The discs in the Blu-ray format will include those subtitles and other languages as well (including German, Dutch, Swedish, and more). The video is high-def widescreen, of course, and the audio is as well: DTS HD-Master Audio 5.1 is available in both English and German on those discs.

The DVD-only version will cost $49.98 SRP, as previously reported. The other set isn't just Blu-ray, as it turns out: the studio announcement today shows that this will be a "Blu-ray/DVD Combo" package, which also includes Digital Downloads as well via the UltraViolet system (the latter may be redeemed up to two years after the street date of this title). Cost, per the studio, is $59.96 SRP. Our previous report in February passed on from Amazon that the list price was ten dollars higher than the finalized cost turned out to be, but Amazon's updated their pre-order listing to show the correct amount now. If you haven't bought your copy yet, here's the button link, followed by the packaging for both versions:
