Chace Crawford's pretty boy image takes a hit as he sports cuts and bruises on set of new baseball film Undrafted

Chace Crawford's image as the pretty boy is taking quite a beating and that's all right with him.

The actor's face was sporting some realistic-looking bruises and cuts as he shot scenes for his new movie Undrafted in Los Angeles on Friday, all courtesy of the make-up department.

As Chace was playing a member of a fighting baseball team that just won the game, the injuries and the excitement were understandable.

The 28-year-old star was giving it his all for the cameras, jumping up and down on the field.

At one point Chace put his gavity defying skills to the test by taking a giant leap into the air with legs bent underneath him.

Chace may have been banged up, dirty and dusty-eyed, but he was no less handsome as he and his fellow actors continued to film scenes at Dunsmore Park in La Crescenta, an unincorporated area of Los Angeles County.

The six-foot Chace was clad in his fictional team's red shirt, beige trousers, red socks and sporty cleats.

While most of the other guys wore their red baseball caps with visor facing front, Chace deviated from the norm and wore his hat in reverse.

When the director called break time, Chace chilled with a bottled water and later went to have some lunch at the makeshift dining area on the set.

The film's plot revolves around a promising young baseball player who is not drafted, which brings on an epiphany.

Undrafted is an independent film that also stars Aaron Tveit, Manny Montana and Tyler Hoechlin and is due to be released sometime in 2014.

It was also announced that Chace will be joining the cast of the romantic comedy comedy Responsible Adults co-starring Katie Holmes.

On the romantic side, Chace was linked this summer to Canadian model Rachelle Goulding.

The amazingly good-looking couple were seen enjoying a relaxing weekend in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico in May.
